How to resolve memory / performance problem of Windows Mobile 2003 operating system
August 12, 2003 [General]
German fan site XScale.de offers fix for the problem of the decreasing memory and perfomance inside of the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system (used nowadays in new Pocket PC PDAs and phones, but soon also in Microsoft smartphones).
The problem is that after each reset of the device powered by this new operating system, the internal database is being increased with 3 new entries. After 30 resets the device can hang for 1-2 minutes or even completely become useless and hang for ever. After 50 resets contact through ActiveSync becomes impossible. While Microsoft delivers (or will soon deliver) a patch that solves this problem, it will be delivered however first to hardware manufacturers, not to end users. Therefore a solution has been conceived - a small program - that resolves this problem by each time removing the newly added entries. To get this program go to a page at XScale.de and click on "download" link, to download wm03hotfix.exe file. This file is of size just 6.5 KB and you should put it into Autostart directory of your Pocket PC.
