• Install library files:
Just put all library files(*.mdx) into "/My Documents" or "/Storage Cards/My Documents". Use "Search all" to automatically search all files with ".mdx" extension and add them to library list.
• Lookup:
Input text in the input panel, then press "Enter" to lookup or select entry from the keyword list.
• About:
-About MDict: Show about information of MDict program
-About the library: Show welcome information of the current opening library
-MDict Help: Show help of MDict program
• Tools:
- Options
-Chinese Conversion:
- No conversion: Do nothing
- To Simplified Chinese: If the library is in traditional chinese, You can check this option to convert all traditional chinese character in lookup result into simplified chinese. After checked this option, if you want to lookup chinese keyword, you should input simplified chinese.
- Traditional Chinese: If the library is in simplified chinese, You can check this option to convert all simplified chinese character in lookup result into traditional chinese. After checked this option, if you want to lookup chinese keyword, you should input traditional chinese.
-Auto save lookup history: Check this if you want to save the lookup history when exit MDict
-Audio library: Set global audio library which can be used to play audio when look up. Instruction for enable this function:
- 1. Put all audio file in a same directory. The file name should match the key word of the entry that to be played. For example, if you have a speech for the sound of "test", then you should create the audio with name "test.wav".
- 2. Use speexenc (from http://www.speex.org) to convert all audio into .spx file
- 3. Use MdxBuilder to convert all audio file into a .mdd file. (Check the create data archive only option)
- 4. Set the Audio Library option to the .mdd file
- 5. When looking up entry, MDict will also locate the entry's audio file in the assigned Audio library. If a matched audio entry is found in the audio library, the speaker button in the up-right will be enabled.For example, when you look up "test", and there is a "test.spx" in the audio library, then you can use the speaker button to play it.
- Auto play audio: If the matching item is found in the audio library, the program will play that audio file automatically.
- GUI Langugae: Select the UI language, need restart the program to take effect
- Save lookup content: Save the current lookup result as html file in "\My Documents". Notes: this file is in UTF-16 encoding, So your PocketIE maynot display it correctly.
- Save lookup history: Save lookup history in "\My Documents\History.txt"

• Font:
-Smallest, small, medium, large, largest: Change the font size in document window
-Clear type: Use cleartype when displaying lookup result in document window
-Fix chinese line wrap: In device with non-Chinese OS, MDict may not warp chinese content corretly. Check this option to use a work arround-- Add a space after every chinese chararcter.
• Library
-Searh all: Search all files with ".mdx" extension and add them to library list
• When input focus is in the input panel:
-Enter: Lookup current input/ select entry in entry list
-Arrow left/right: Move cursor
-Arrow up/down: Scroll entry list
• When input foucs is in the document window
-Back: Set input focus to input panel
-Enter: Follow links in document window
-Arrow left/right: Move cursor (selected link) in document window
-Arrow up/down: Scroll contents in document window.
-Input any alpha character will switch input focus to input panel, this function will easy the use of device with keyboard.
-Number keys:
- 1, 3: History back/forward
- 4, 6: Previous/Next entry
- 5 : Change selection in view window(Can be used to select links)
- 2, 8: Page up/Page down
- 7, 9: Home/End
